    Swim Meet FAQ

    How many meets are there?

For the 2026 season, there are 4 meets, all optional attendance.

    • Socorro City Pool, 7/25 at 5pm
    • Highpoint Pool, 8/5 at 6pm
    • Del Norte Pool, 8/20 at 6pm
    • Riverpoint Pool, 8/26 at 6pm

Do I have to swim in all of the meets?

You can sign up for just one meet, several of them, or all of them - whatever works with your schedule.  But hopefully, once you go to one, you'll see how much fun they are, and you'll want to go to them all!

When do I sign up for a meet?

You can sign up any time, so long as the button to the right of the meet is green and says "meet entry open".  You must sign up at least 3 days before the meet.  Registration closes 3 days before the meet.  This allows me time to then sign people up for the relays, and then for the league coordinator to organize the meet and send out the meet schedule.

How do I sign up for a meet?

    1. Log in to your account at grown-up swimming
    2. Click on the "Meet Signup" tab in the top blue area (or might be at the bottom on your phone).  Alternatively, you can click on the meet at the bottom of the home page.
    3. Click on the green button to the right of the meet.
    4. Click the green "edit" button
    5. From the drop down menu, select "attending this meet", and then choose which individual events you would like to swim.
    6. If you're interested in participating in a relay, select that option too. I'll get you signed up for the relays once I know who is available (assuming we have enough people to field a relay team)

How many events can I sign up for?

You can swim in up to 4 individual events and up to 2 relay events, with a maximum of 5 events total.  (So for example, 4 individual and 1 relay, or 3 individual and 2 relays)

Do I have to sign up for 4 events?

Absolutely not!  Feel free to sign up for just 1 or 2 events if you wish.  This is all for fun, so do what makes you happy!

When do I find out the meet schedule?

Our league coordinator will send out an email about a day before the meet with the meet schedule.  The meet schedule will show which races you are signed up for, which heat you're swimming in (if there are more swimmers than lanes for that race), and which lane you've been assigned to.

What time should I show up for a meet?

All meets have a warm-ups start time.  That's a good time to aim to be there, giving you time to get situated, and get a little swimming in before the meet starts.  There's no need to get there much before the warm-up start time.

How long do the meets last?

It depends on how many swimmers there are, but you can generally expect it to last about 2 hours or so.

I don't know how to dive or I'm scared of diving off the blocks.  Do I have to?

Nope!  Most of the swimmers do dive off the diving blocks since it gives you a swimming advantage, but you don't have to if you don't want to.  Feel free to dive into the water from the pool deck edge.  Feel free to jump in feet first.  Feel free to just start your race in the water, holding onto the pool edge.  It's your race!

I have more questions. Who do I ask?

Feel free to email me ([email protected]) or text me, or just find me at Midtown, and I'm happy to answer any other questions you have.  If I don't know the answer, I'll do my best to find the answer for you.
